For the love of greebles!
Getting tired to too big scenes with too much time wasted on things which will not matter in the later end result, i decided to take the complete opposite approach:
No more than one hour of modeling for a scene and all models have to be created from scratch.
These are the results of the third round of "one hour of greeble".
I am preparing for a life tutorial about this workflow for the Blender conference 2022 and therefore reboot this series three years after the first iterations. (EDIT: Talk now available at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0plU9RGxHNI)
I have learned some more tricks, Blender got much better and greebling just so much more fun :)
Collection instances and geometry nodes (used for radial symmetry) make the workflow much nicer and fast render able volumetrics were not a thing back then.
For each of the projects i tried to create a nice colour palette, trying to find a style for the current iteration of ohog.
Modelled in Blender and rendered with Cycles.
